Abstract

The presence of ludruk is enlightenment for people who long for a change for the better in social institutions but in entertainment packaging that can touch all levels of society. Ludruk is a small folk art that reflects all the views and mindsets of the lower strata of society. Therefore, ludruk stories generally raise the problem of the everyday life of small people (fragments of life) by using a more egalitarian language because small people tend to be transparent and candid. Ludruk as a cultural defense tool for the people of East Java has the values ​​of local wisdom. the notion of beauty is considered as one type of value as well as moral, economic, and other values. Values ​​related to everything included in the beauty notion is called aesthetic value. The survival of the values ​​contained in the art of ludruk is the most important thing, because in its long journey ludruk has undergone various natural changes that require ludruk to adapt to continue to exist in society. Ludruk as a result of the creativity of small people who are used as a means of introspection together in the sense of a social scale capable of incorporating the values ​​of life in society
