THE PORTRAYAL OF CALIFORNIA SOCIETY SLANG IN CHRIS MORGAN’S THE FATE AND THE FURIOUS MOVIE-SCRIPT

This research analyses the portrayal of California society slang in Chris Morgan’s the fate and the furious script. The writer chooses the movie script to analyse the meaning and the reason for using slang and the writer also apply to daily conversation. This research aims to find California society slang words, know the meaning of California society slang words, and know the reason for using California society slang words based on the movie script. The writer used qualitative and library research to find and analyse the data in the movie script. There are some California society slang words found in this study. They are No Way, Hood, Ain’t, Bro, Ghost him, Shit and so on. The word No Way means impossible, and the words Ain’t means an expression of negativity. The writer found 28 California society slang words in the research. This research is expected to help the reader understand slang clearly and easily. It hopes to help readers speak English fluently, and it can enrich new English vocabulary used in everyday conversation and the result of this thesis is knowing the meaning and the function of California society slang words. Moreover, the characters used California society slang to show the nature of their communication and introduce their origin.
